Breakfast Inspiration

What is this mess, you ask? It's my new breakfast inspiration. I'm horrible at eating breakfast. (Unless grabbing a cookie and a Diet Coke on my way out the door counts.) When I'm stumbling around the kitchen in a groggy stupor, I want something easy and delicious that's not cold cereal. I've been over cold cereal since the 7th grade.

Oatmeal is the perfect solution. But I'm talking about old fashioned oatmeal. Not that pasty microwave junk with fruit flakes and powdery cream. Real, honest-to-goodness oatmeal. It only takes a few minutes to cook; and you only make a mess of one pan. And you can get as creative as you like. My current favorite additions are brown sugar, cherries, cranberries and pecans.

What did you eat for breakfast today? Really. I want to know.

eggs this morning, thanks to my husband. I'm the worst at eating breakfast too. My hubby is a big breakfast eater: scrambled eggs w/ salsa and raw broc is his go-to meal. He'll usually scramble a few eggs for me to ensure that I eat before noon :-) It's abt then that I starting getting snappy and irritable and can't figure out why. I owe it to my kids to eat breakfast. Might try your oatmeal suggestion. Do you just prepare it with water, or do you use milk?

I am crazy about oatmeal! But I also have to stand up for cold cereal, when I was pregnant with Connor that is all I wanted was sugar yummy trix or captain crunch... Em

I suck at eating breakfast too. I find that I am just not hungry in the a.m. any more. I have a cup or two of coffee and thats it. Then around 11 I start to get hungry for lunch. But this oatmeal combo you speak of sounds delish!

P.S.- And I actually love to have a bowl of cold cereal before bed at night. So I guess I'm doing it backwards!

Every single AM I eat a 4 egg white and veggie (or cheese or salsa or something yummy) OMELET!!!!!!!! I've never been a oatmeal gal, but that sure looks scrumptious.

i can't live without breakfast--I get painfully hungry within half an hour of waking up and I'm like a grumpy bear until i get food in me.

i wish it weren't so, but frankly I'm addicted to cold cereal with almond milk. it's the way i trick myself into thinking that my otherwise healthy diet contains dessert. i always mix a sweet one (honey bunches of oats is a fave) with a not-sweet one (fiber one is a fall back).

I've been on the oatmeal bandwagon for a while now. It is so easy to make it so yummy. In addition to adding solid nuts and dried fruit (or fresh fruit) I usually blend up a mix of cinnamon and flax seeds and wheat bran to get some extra fiber in it. Thank you for sharing.

Three pieces of Rocky Road candy from See's. Whoops! Thanks for the healthy inspiration, though! Maybe tomorrow - I imagine the See's candy will be gone by then anyway. :)
