Snack Time

I spent a lot of time cooking during the last week...I was helping with a family get-together over the weekend. I'm definitely not a pro, but I have been around the kitchen a few times. All of B's aunts wanted my recipes; and I figured I might as well share them with you, too. What better way to kick off the summer picnic and bbq season than with some great food?

These Peanut Butter Cup Cookies are always a crowd-pleaser. And they're so simple to make. My best advice: don't over bake them! Eight minutes is perfect. I wish I could take credit for both the recipe and the photo, but I got them both from my beloved allrecipes.

My signature popcorn. Well, I guess I should say it's my grandma's signature popcorn. But I've kind of adopted it as my own. I posted the recipe last summer, and you can find it here if you weren't with me way back then. Also, you can throw in a handful of m&m's for a little color.

Oh, and I shared my sugar cookie recipe earlier too. I don't have a great photo, but you can find it here.

In other news, H starts swimming lessons today. He's a little nervous. Keep your fingers crossed that he actually gets in the pool!

How am I this hungry when I just got through with my lunch? These all look fabulous - I need to check out your popcorn recipe.

Good luck with the swimming lessons - I know that nervous feeling (I've got one who still fusses about getting his face wet and he's 6!)

Yippee! I have to bring popcorn to my sons end of year preschool party on Thursday! This will be much better than plain 'ole popcorn! Do you think it will work with old fashion stove-popped popcorn? Or only microwave?

ms. less is always more: it will work great with old fashioned popcorn. That's actually what the recipe calls for...I think it's 1/2 cup of kernels per recipe. Hope your son's class likes it!

If I hadn't just gotten the ingredients out to make lemon squares, those cookies would be cooling in my kitchen right now! And I can't wait to try the popcorn for the 4th of July! Thank you for the recipes--they're just simple enough to be within my limited culinary realm :)

Is this Grandma Hansen's Pink Popcorn--just without the pink?

Hey Lisa,
It's grandma's recipe...but she never made it pink for us. We always had it on the 4th of July. Good to hear from you!
