Spring Makeover: New Brows

Maybe it's just me, but in the months leading up to and the months just after a new baby are filled with some serious self-neglect. I don't feel good, I don't look good, and I'm just too tired to care. Now that life is feeling more normal and manageable, I'm starting to care again. I cut and colored my hair (after a year-long hiatus from the salon). I've started to exercise regularly, I'm eating better, I made that dreaded trip to the dentist for a much overdue checkup, and I'm trying to put a little more effort into my appearance (most days). And I have to say, now that I'm starting to look and feel better, I'm noticing I'm much more productive in other areas of my life. Funny how that works, eh?

Anyway, I was delighted when my friends at Anastasia Beverly Hills offered to send a Beauty Express brow kit my way*. I used to get my brows threaded regularly, and I loved it. Well, time and money both became issues in that scenario and once again I became a DIY-er. I'll admit, watching the product video made me a little bit nervous for several reasons: 1) I was afraid it would be too complicated, or that I wouldn't be able to make my brows look even, 2) I definitely thought the whole process would take too long to become a realistic part of my morning and 3) I was worried that none of the stencils wouldn't fit my brow shape.

I'm so happy to say I was wrong on all counts! For me, holding the stencil and filling in my brows did feel a little awkward at first, but after a couple times it was totally easy. Doing my brows this way doesn't take any longer than a minute, so time's not an issue. And the first stencil in the kit was perfect. Turns out I'm a "slim high arch." I really love the brow wax, which holds everything in place all day, yet washes off easily at night. And the brow powder is the best I've ever used. No kidding. It's got serious staying power; my brows look great all day. Plus, the stencils help you know which hairs to tweeze and which to leave so after a while your brows will actually be the same shape. ;) I tend to be a little more tweezer happy on one side than the other, so the stencils totally help with my over-tweezing tendencies. So if you're in the mood to do a little spring cleaning to your face, definitely give the Anastasia Beverly Hills Beauty Express kit a try.

*While Anastasia Beverly Hills did provide me with free product, my review is my honest-to-goodness opinion. I only say nice things when I mean it. :)

Oh, and that photo of Nolan in the bath has absolutely nothing to do with this post. But he's cute and I like him.

I've had my Anastasia brow kit for almost 5 years now and I love it! It definitely helps my blonde-practically non-existant-eyebrows, to actually look like eyebrows. I need to start using it on a daily basis, but I'm usually way too lazy!
