Look on the Bright Side

{christian dior}
I love, love the color and the hinge detail.

I can't claim to be an expert on much. But I do know a lot about sunglasses from the years I spent working the accessories world. I look forward to the resort collections with so much anticipation every year.

I love the accessibility that designer sunglasses afford. Since a Marc Jacobs handbag is not in my imminent future; I can at least live the dream with some sunglasses. Initially, designer shades may be a bit more pricey than you'd like, but think of it in terms of cost per use. For example, say you buy a pair of $200 sunglasses and you wear them every day for two years--those sunglasses end up costing a mere 27 cents per use.

{Side note: I never leave the house without sunglasses, so this scenario is entirely plausible. My current pair is just over the two-year mark and still going strong; and I'm definitely not as gentle on them as I should be. Plus, the fact that added SPF coverage will protect your under eye skin from damaging (i.e. wrinkle-causing) rays is enough motiviation to wear them every day.}

Here are some of my current obsessions:
I love the silver and the woven temples. So chic.

If you're looking for something both understated and stylish, this is a great choice.

Suddenly, I want to sip a frozen beverage while reading a good book by the pool. Anybody care to join me?

Glamorous and elegant but not over the top. Perfection, in my opinion.

P.S. Kate Spade makes the absolute best sunglasses for smaller faces.

P.P.S. If you're looking to get your feet wet with your first designer sunglasses, but you're afraid of a big commitment, try RALPH by Ralph Lauren. They're a great place to start.

I love those jimmy choo ones at the bottom. I like that these aren't the super bug eyed ones that the girls on the Hills wear. :)

Woohoo! A fellow sunglass nut! I'm embarassed to say that my Bottega Veneta sunglasses cost more than most of the shoes in my closet...and the worst part is that I can't even wear them because I don't want to shell out the extra $100 for prescription lenses!

Love the simplicity of those Chloe frames (but then again I love everything Chloe so that comes as no surprise!). I also love Marc by Marc Jacobs sunglasses--they seem to fit really well and at $90 a pop they're quite reasonable!
