A Challenge

I've been noticing a theme lately: tired, uninspired, bad day, bad mood...you get the picture. I dare say I'm not the only one having been there for a day or two lately. Here are some things I've realized as I look back over the last few days:
  • Nobody's perfect. So why do I try so hard?
  • It's OK if dinner comes in the shape of a pizza every once in a while.
  • I don't have to say "yes" to everything...every play date, every volunteer opportunity, every "can you do me a favor?"
  • Uncertainty isn't always bad. I just need to learn to deal with it better...but I can't learn without practice.
  • Clutter happens, and it happens to everyone. Well, everyone that I know.
  • Taking a few minutes (or hours) to yourself every so often is a necessity.

I'm inviting you all to join me on a stay-at-home spa weekend. Of course, realistically, it will be more like a stay-at-home spa hour (or less). But I'm challenging all of you to take a minute to yourself. It's time to let go of the to-do lists, the guilt, and all of those should do's. Stock up on your favorite movies, good books and delicious snacks. Then whip up some body scrub, check out these home-spa tips and settle in for a little recharge of the proverbial batteries. At the very least, just do something extra-nice for yourself. You deserve it.

So drop me a comment here, and tell me how you're going to be nice to yourself this weekend.

I'm going to be nice to myself this weekend by not really making any plans. The last 6 weekends have been so busy, I need a weekend where I have little to nothing going on so I can re-charge.

what impeccable timing you have dear cousin! Earlier this week I had a mini breakdown from the stresses in life and even my own husband said I should do something nice for myself. So I think I am going to sleep in and then watch all of my recorded shows from the last two weeks. Nothing beats a The Hills, Top Model, Real World, and Making the Band marathon! lol! I love silly shows!

girl, I have soooo been where you are so many times. at 37 I am finally realizing that perfection is in teh imperfect details(if that makes sense). The things I look to as being inspiring are happy faces. If your kids get pizza EVERY night and they are happy, or you don't get to teh dishes but you bc you are playing with your kids or hanging with your husband that kuddos to you! Remember: live life the best every single day as if it were your last & just let people love you and smile as big as you can and those little things that are eating you up will totally become perfect.

I hear you! What a week... I too get so sucked into my perfectionist tendencies and start internalizing the clutter, the stacking up dishes and crabby kids. So not healthy! I am going to try and paint my nails this weekend and catch up on blog stuff. If I accomplish those two things, I'll be happy! Let's all turn it around this weekend!

I'm with you... Your list is so true and so simple, but so easy to forget. Thanks for the reminder. Hope you have a relaxing, recharging weekend~

Thanks for the reminder! I am glad I am not the only one who feels like this from time to time.

challenge accepted. I spent Saturday ALONE (no kids) at the mall for hours and I didn't even get a call from home to see when I'd be back. Then when I got home I announced that I was still "off duty" and Dan got the kids ready for bed. thanks for the challenge.
