The first week back to "normal" after the holidays usually drags on and on. This year, it's been especially difficult to get back into the rhythm of normal life...maybe that explains some of my strange-ish posts this week. Here's a little summary of my week:
- I started the week out flat on the couch sick with bronchitis and a sinus infection.
- I got better. Almost.
- I stood up to a bully, for lack of a better term, who was disrupting my life. Side note: isn't it ridiculous that as adults, we still have to use our playground survival skills in dealing with bullies?
- I learned some great life lessons from my wise father. I've always adored my father, but I hold him in especially high esteem after this week. He has always supported me and empowered me with the tools and the confidence I need to fight my own battles. Let's just hope there are no more battles on the horizon; because even thought I'm getting better at it, I will always hate confrontation.
- I started preparations for a great birthday party. I hope it turns out as spectacular as I envision it.
- I took Hudson out on a little "date" one afternoon. We do spend all of our waking hours together, and we do a lot of fun activities throughout the week. But I realized I need to make special time more often where he talks and I just listen.
- I hosted my first slumber party. A three-year-old, and a four-year-old. Enough said.
- I cleaned out my closet; I realized I'm getting lazy about my appearance. Sad, but true.
This week has been one I'll never forget. I learned a lot of valuable lessons, and I have a deeper appreciation for those closest to me.
Have a great weekend! And hopefully next week will be a little less exciting.
