I'm busy today catching up on some orders. While I'm working away in my shop, a quick question for you: Does anyone know what these flowers are called? We had a freak frost this winter and it killed several of my plants. The hummingbirds loved these flowers and I miss our little visitors.

It looks like a Salvia to me - from the same family as sage! There are literally thousands of varieties (even some native to California!) and most are very tough and hardy. You might be surprised - it might come back! Otherwise, there are definitely varieties that are frost hardy. And yes, the hummingbirds (and insects) will love them!
