New Cards on the Block

I just want to wish a warm welcome to the newest cards in my shop. Take a look:

This cute little happy birthday set is the perfect card to keep on hand. It works for ladies, gentlemen, kids, grandparents, neighbors. They're available in sets of six in my shop now.

And the newest pattern in my recipe collection: scallops. And in the 2013 Pantone color of the year: Emerald. Get them while they last. The color of the year is a limited edition print...so hustle on over and pick up a set.

Have a great weekend!

Leaf Journal Printable

The kids and I really enjoy doing our little Backyard Birdwatching activity during the spring and summer, so I thought I'd make a similar activity we could enjoy during the fall. We came up with a little leaf journal.

Simply download and print the journal. Then go for a walk, collect some leaves and document your findings. Here's a handy tip: print pages 3-4 back to front so when you open the book, all the info on one leaf is in the same place.

We had a lot of fun collecting leaves, and my three-year-old was enchanted by the magic of leaf rubbings. But I think my favorite part is the self-portrait page. Priceless.

Happy Fall, Everybody!

Charlotte's Bedroom Inspiration

My plan of attack with our new house is to take it one room at a time.
So far, my plan is working and I'm feeling a little more confident. I finished the teeniest bathroom in the house over the weekend, and I think I'm ready to tackle a larger project. Here's what I have in mind:

I've been scheming up a plan for Charlotte's room for quite some time now. I want something girly, yet something that will easily grow with her. Since her taste is fickle, the basic palette for her room is creams and golds, which are easy to work with. Then I'll throw in some purple, pink and turquoise to keep it interesting.

Undoubtedly the biggest furniture score of my lifetime is my mom's old beds. She had the most darling set of wooden bed frames growing up; and they're now one of my most treasured belongings. I'm going to have one of them stripped and painted to match the Azure Jenny Lind nightstand. I can't wait to see it all come together. I'll keep you posted on my progress!

Here's a little guide to the items I've pictured here in case you're curious:

Glow Lightly Table Lamp, The Land of Nod
Bazaar Bedding, The Land of Nod

What We're Reading Now

I thought I'd put my kids to work today sharing their favorite books with you. Take a peek with what they came up with:

The Great Lollipop Caper: Mom's Pick (Recommended for all ages)
This one is MY pick. I love the illustrations, and the content is so clever. I love a good play on words, and this is an entire book about sweet, likable Lollipop and sour, grouchy old Caper. All three of my kids love reading this one.

Bread and Jam for Frances: Charlotte's pick (Recommended for ages 3-4)
A darling little book about Frances, who learns there's more to life (and dinner) than bread and jam. This is especially apt pick from the reigning pickiest eater at our house.

The Adventures of Captain Underpants: Hudson's pick (Recommended for ages 7-8)
Hudson's exploring the wide world of chapter books now. This is his latest favorite series. I have to say, it's actually pretty funny. There are just enough cartoons interspersed with the reading material to make it less monotonous for this age group.

Brown Bear, Brown Bear, What Do You See? Nolan's Pick (Recommended for ages 1-6)
We're all big fans of Eric Carle at our house. But Nolan's especially smitten with animals lately. My reccomened age range for this book is a bit wider than the others, because Hudson actually studied this one in Kindergarten, and it was a smashing success.

What are you and your kids reading now?

Start Where You Are

I need a little inspiration at the beginning of a new month. I easily get overwhelmed by my to-do list, and I need to remember to do my best and be happy with that.

I created a little printable of this month's quote in case you could use a little inspiration, too.
